Seascapes around the South Coast of England

Our harbours are essential retreats from the sea.  Safe places for ships to rest, load and repair; gentle waters for recreation, harbours are both the prelude and epilogue to the sea.

Seascapes are full of emotive adjectives from boiling and nauseating to tranquil and serene, but the sea is never the same twice.  Wind and waves, tide and light keep changing into a never-ending sequence of power and delight

In looking at the sea, the terror and exhilaration emotions of seafaring are muted as we become observers in relative tranquillity - but stirred enough to take real pleasure.

I trust you will also enjoy these pictures with the land and boats which give context to the raging and still water, and perhaps to generate a new hunger to get out there and become a part of it.
