Boats along the South Coast
Boats float in harbours and beyond, of course ... but apart from their purpose, and every purpose demands a different design, they are works of art ... crafted with skill, finished with care and maintained with that strange, loving and expensive affection we have for boats.
Pictures may recapture the past glories of affluent sailing parties and a nail-biting competitive spirit, or the forlornness of yesterday's beauties abandoned to the elements. Or it may stir a fresh hope of being afloat in a new guise ... cruising, racing, pottering, fishing, rowing, surfing, or simply 'messing about in boats'.
Small or large with price tags to match, old-school or high-tech, boats are in my blood - and if you are reading this, they are in yours too.
If you own a boat, it will have an even more special place in your affections. Worthy of a photoshoot afloat perhaps.
